How To Find Us

To make it as easy as possible to locate Bampton Village Store and Post Office, we have created this page for you. Click the link to open a Map of the area that can be printed out, to add to the directions and this will hopefully aid you during your journey. Then please select on the map which Junction of the M6 you will be exiting, which are clearly marked on the map with red circles.

Directions from The South of Cumbria

From the South - Exit from junction 39 of the M6, left onto B6261 for 3/4 mile to the T junction;

Turn right on to the A6 and heading into Shap;

As you head through the village of Shap, there is a Co-Op store on the left and shortly after a red B.T. phone box;

Some 10 yds after this, there is a left turn marked Bampton/Haweswater/Shap Abbey;

Turn off the A6 at this point onto C3034. Do not deviate from this road, which is predominantly downhill,and quiet narrow in parts;

After some 5 miles you reach Bampton Grange;

Continue ahead, over the humpback bridge, after which you bear to the right;

Continue along this road for 1/2 mile and we are in the center of the village of Bampton, you will see Bampton Village Store & Post Office on your right as the road bends round.

Directions from The North of Cumbria

From the North - Exit from junction 40 of the M6, and head East (ahead) on to A66, towards Brough / Scotch Corner;

Onto dual carriageway, for approx 3/4 mile to the traffic island;

Take 4th exit onto A6 signposted Shap;

Over Eamont Bridge and through A.T.S. shortly after which there is a mini roundabout;

Turn right onto B5320 (signed Pooley Bridge) towards Yanwath;

After going over the railway bridge take the next left at Yanwath school (signed Askham/Bampton/Hawswater)

Stay on this road travelling through the villages of Askham, Helton, Butterwick, finally arriving at Bampton. (distance of approx 6 miles from Yanwath)
